Revised Notebook Covers

Lately I've been itching to do 12x12 Scrapbook pages, feeling the need to have more space to work on than just a card.  Problem is, I don't get pictures printed much these days.  They're all on the computer in nice little folders, but no hard copies to work with.  So while I'm waiting for a good printing deal to come along and get lots of photos printed, I decided to "recover" a couple composition notebooks I had laying (lying?) around.  I did something similar last year HERE.

I decided to redo the little one for my almost 4-year-old daughter.  Seems she always gravitates toward cute, little notebooks when we're at the store.  I have a sheet of Year-O-Graphy Fundamental Cardstock Stickers that I've had for quite a while.

Everytime I run across them, I can't get over how cute they are, but can never decide what to use them on.  So I decided to use them on the small notebook.  Here's what I ended up with:

FRONT:
The background paper is from Simple Stories Happy Day 6x6 pack.

BACK:

Notice on the "BACK" view, the black spine is on the right...which is what happens when you turn the notebook over.  Why is this important you ask?  Keep reading!  (Hint:  I pulled an "Aunt Donna")!

For the larger notebook, I went with the Echo Park "Life is Good" 12x12 Collection Kit...using a couple different paper patterns for the background and the element stickers to decorate with.

FRONT:
BACK:  (With spine on the right, where it should be if you turn the notebook over--without turning it upside down)
Yep, I pulled an "Aunt Donna!"  :)  (Love you, Aunt Donna)!  I laughed and laughed when I realized what I had done.  Just the day before Aunt Donna had posted on FB how she had just finished a card, only to realize it was upside down!  I laughed at her.  I shouldn't laugh at people! :)

Luckily, the stickers peeled off nicely and I just had to flip a few things over to get a non-upside down result!
Ta-Da!

Now go get your non-upside down craft on!

  1. Oh I love this idea. I have a little notebook that I let Rowan use that has a flap with a magnet in it to close it and I've been thinking about recreating something like that. She loves to open it and close it over and over again and draw on the pages. Other little girls are always saying "oh I really like this a lot" as if they want me to give it to them!! I'm inspired by your post :)

  2. You're so sweet, Elysia! Thank you for your comment. Speaking of other little girls liking them, I've thought about making several of the little ones as party favors for when Olivia has some of her girl friends over (someday)! :) Or letting the girls decorate their notebooks with stickers. Cheap and not messy! :)
