Bible Art Journal Entry - Mind On Christ = Perfect Peace

You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
Isaiah 26:3-4

Some washi tape and letter stickers was all it took for this journal entry.

Bible Art Journal Entry - Love This Way

First Corinthians 13 was one of the first chapters of the Bible I memorized (thanks to being a Missionette).  My pastor is preaching through 1 Corinthians and came to chapter 13 a few weeks back and I knew I wanted to save room in the margins for some art work, but still needed to take notes, so I squeezed them in where I could.

In this chapter, God tells us how we are to love one another.  Basically it's telling us how to be a Christian!

It's a great passage to meditate on...especially on those days when it's especially hard to display love in this way!

I just used my Stampin' Up! heart punch on a few different shades of red cardstock paper, an arrow sticker, and letter stickers.  I topped (and bottomed) it off with some heart washi tape and that's it!

Love Never Ends!

Bible Art Journal Entry - Forgiving...Even As...

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32

For this journal entry, I decided to try a new technique for me.  I laid down my letter stickers and then used my gelatos to go over the stickers.  I used my finger to smear/spread the gelato color around and into the grooves and cracks of the letters so it would leave a nice, clean, crisp imprint of the letters upon pulling the letters off (very carefully).

I added the second part of the verse to a card and taped it in with washi tape.  I once again laid down my stickers and then went over the whole card with several different colors of distress ink, blending them all together.  I then pulled up my stickers.  I added stickers for "forgave" and stamped "Eph" and wrote in 3:32.

On the reverse side I added some stickers where it would allow me to journal at a later time if needed.

It can be hard to forgive sometimes, but it's just so important to remember how much God forgave us.  It kind of puts it into perspective a little more.

Hope you're able to spend time in the Word today!

Bible Art Journal Entry - Whatsoever Things Are...

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Phillipians 4:8

I picked up Bella Blvd's Illustrated Faith "Phil. 4:8" 12x12 paper and sticker sheets last September while at the beach on vacation (Gulf Shores, AL).  There's a really nice (and big) craft store there that my husband indulges me and lets me spend a little time in each year when we go to the beach.  I'm just now getting around to using them to journal this verse.

It was a matter of putting stickers on and using some gelatos to add a little more color around the stickers and on the text.  The "Think Happy Thoughts" isn't a sticker, so I taped it to the page using some washi tape.

I used Illustrated Faith's Homespun Alpha Set to stamp the 4:8.

Bible Art Journal - All Things

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Phillipians 4:23

I had a lot of space on this page, so I had fun with it!

I had purchased a 12x12 page from Bella Blvd's Illustrated Faith line that was related to Phillipians 4:8 (which I will journal about next), but there was also a card on it that said, "I can do all things through Christ," so I washi taped it onto this page.

Underneath I had done some water coloring with various colors in my Kuretake Gansai water color kit using a water brush.

There was also a 12x12 sticker page that matched this theme which is where I got my "All Things" stickers.

Really love how bright and happy it turned out!

Be strengthened by Him today!

Bible Art Journal Entry - Delight Yourself In The Lord

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
Psalm 37:4-5

This was one of my first journal entries.  I had been practicing my lettering and used my own handwriting for this entry, all except for the word "desires" which are alpha letter stickers.  I stamped some flowers and swirlies as well.

After I had done the entry, I found a stamp I had that had the word "delight" on it.  I was bummed I hadn't used it for my entry, but then just decided to use it to make a book mark.

Bible Art Journal Entry - Guard Your Heart

My Bible art journal entry today comes from Proverbs 4:23.

(ESV)  Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
(NIV) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

I wanted a heart with a stream of water flowing out of it.  Since I can't draw, I had to find an image to trace.  I finally came across one that was as close as I could get to that concept.  I traced it into my Bible using tracing paper and graphite paper, and then colored in the water and heart with some distress inks and then some colored pencils.

Instead of writing "your heart" after "Guard," I decided to just put the word "Guard" over the heart to signify the same thing.  The rest of the words were done with stickers except for "everything" which is stamped.

Once again, I highlighted the passage with my Gelatos.

I went around everything with some distress ink (Salty Ocean) to add a little more color.  I added a swirly-type sticker and heart at the bottom to complete it.

Bible Art Journal Entry - Do Not Be Anxious

I'm super excited to share some Bible Art Journaling posts with you all.  I think I was made aware of this sort of Bible journaling back in December.  I was immediately drawn to it because:  (A) Time in the Word is always a good thing and something I needed to be more consistent at, and (B) It involved being crafty and being able to use my craft supplies!

I started following people on Instagram and scouring Pinterest for inspiration and scripture to art journal.  Becoming familiar with Illustrated Faith is a must!  Shannon Noel is the founder of Illustrated Faith and essentially brought this form of Bible journaling to the masses.  Illustrated Faith has since partnered with Bella Blvd and Dayspring to bring even more products and inspiration!

The journal entry I'm sharing today is from Matthew 6:25-34.  This is a wonderful passage to meditate on while you're doing your art, and just trying to figure out what direction you want to go with it.  I like to highlight the text I'm journaling.  Gelatos are great for this purpose and are just a fun medium to work with in general, especially on Bible pages!

For this one, I actually started off using an embossing folder that had little flowers all over it.  I put my bible page between the folder and pressed with my fingers.  You can't really distinguish that it's a flower imprint, but it does give it a lot of texture.

Then I used blue and yellow acrylic paint and with the edge of a credit card, just scraped it onto the page.

I stamped a banner in a turquoise color and used alpha stickers for "Do Not Be" and then just wrote out the word "anxious."  I use a lot of alpha stickers because I just don't have great handwriting.  And I really like how the letter stickers look!  A few additional touches are stamped butterflies and underneath "anxious" I stamped some bouquets of flowers in a yellow color.  They're kind of hard to see.

I love my sweet, little bird standing on a branch (which is just a sticker).  I stamped the bird and colored him in with colored pencils.  Add a date stamp and it's all done!

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on.  Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air:  they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?  And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?  And why are you anxious about clothing?  Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow:  they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'  For the Gentles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

Hope you're able to be in the Word today!
