18" Doll Clothes Hangers

If you have an American Girl doll lover (or Target's Our Generation doll, for us more frugal types), then I hope you love this post as much as I do!  With my daughter getting quite a few new outfits for her dolls at Christmas, it was time to come up with a way to keep them organized.  I decided I wanted to hang them up, but didn't really want to spend the money on hangers, so I found THIS awesome post on how to make my own hangers for 18" dolls!

The really great part, and you know I love this about projects, is that I already had all the supplies on hand!  All THREE of them.  Yep, you only need 3 things...Cup Hooks, Popsicle Sticks and a hot glue gun  (technically, you also need scissors and a tape measure)!

Now, if you want to get really fancy, you should also have some paint on hand.  My daughter loves to paint, so I let her go to town decorating her new hangers any way she wanted with the paint.

I also added mini clothes pins to a hanger to clip pants to!

Go check out the step-by-step (easy) instructions HERE.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year...For Unto Us a Child Is Born...and Vinyl!

Meant to get around to posting these pre-Christmas, but here they are nonetheless!

Ever since I finally took the plunge and overcame my fear of working with vinyl in my Silhouette Cameo machine with my Jingle All The Way project, I've been anxious to do more!  I decided I loved this image from the Silhouette online store, so decided to do a couple things with it.

I've had this awesome framed mirror for years now.  It was a clearance Hobby Lobby find.  I decided to cut a piece of paper (it's actually chalkboard paper) to size and fit it inside the frame over the mirror.  I then put my vinyl on the paper and voila!

Love it!

Next, I took this red, distressed frame that I already had and did the same sentiment on the glass part of it.

I took me FOR-EV-ER to decide on the paper for the background.  I'm still not sure I totally love this one.  All the ones I wanted to use weren't big enough pieces because I liked them so much I had already used them for cardmaking or other crafty things.  So I guess I just don't have enough paper.  Must. Get. More. Paper! :)

On to a combination of 2 shapes in the Silhouette online store.

Not the best picture, but oh well!

Go get your vinyl craft on!  It's so much fun!

Let It Snow Tag

One more entry for Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge:  Let It Snow! before it ends tomorrow.  Had fun with this cute little snowman, snowflakes and "Let It Snow" sentiment.  All stickers are from various Christmas collections.  The background is a blend of Iced Spruce and Evergreen Bough distress inks.  Don't forget the Maraschino twine.

I'll be sitting here waiting (and waiting) for snow...and getting my craft on!

Christmas Tree Washi Tag

What do you get when you distress ink a tag with Iced Spruce and Evergreen Bough distress inks, add Christmas washi tape to resemble the shape of a Christmas tree--being sure to include one with snow on it--and copper shimmer twine through the tag loop?  An entry for Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge:  Let It Snow! Which looks like this:

Merry Christmas Card

I've got another card for Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Let It Snow!

For this card I used my My Mind's Eye "Vintage Christmas" 6x6 paper along with one of the Chipboard pieces from the same collection.  I used my snowflake embossing folder on the blue paper.  Edge it all in Walnut Stain distress ink and there you have it!

Another quick, easy and cute card!

Frosty - Let It Snow Card

If you're here for the Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop, go HERE.

A while ago I ordered an October Afternoon "Holiday Style" pack of goodness from one of the (many) crafty deal sites out there.  It came with so much fun stuff, in addition to the fabulous 12x12 papers.

I decided to use this collection for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Let It Snow!  I love snow.  If only it would snow here in southeastern Tennessee!  Oh well, at least I can dream of snow...and makes cards about snow.

The snowman pic came from the miscellany pack.  Isn't he so cute and vintage looking?  There was a "wrap pack" in the collection with some twine, red trim and this super cute pom-pom trim that I used on the card.
I'm also excited to enter my card in CAS-ual Fridays CFC 123:  Let It Snow! Challenge.

Lawnscaping Winter Themed Blog Hop

I'm thrilled to be participating in the Lawnscaping WINTER THEMED blog hop!

Hopefully you arrived here from Lizzy's blog.  If not, and you want to start from the beginning, you can get the full line-up at Lawnscaping blog!  Be sure to comment on each of the hoppers' posts as there will be lots of prizes!  Yay!  (All the specific information about the sponsors and prizes can be found on the Lawnscaping home page).

So here's my card:

First I took the black paper from Lawn Fawn's Peace, Joy, Love Petite paper pad and heat embossed some snowflakes from the Peace, Joy, Love stamp set onto it.  Next, I took the "peace" sentiment from the same stamp set and heat embossed it with some red tinsel embossing powder.

I cut one end for a banner effect and tied some twine around the other end.  I then centered it on my paper with some pop dots.  I then stamped my holly (Imaginisce Snag Em single stamp) and cut it out and added some red Glitter Dome stickers for the berries.  I used pop dots for the holly as well.

I rounded the corners on my paper and adhered it to the holly patterned paper from the petite pack and called it done!

Happy Winter Hopping!

A Messy Christmas Card

Today's card is for Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge: Tissue.  I used some new Antique Paper Tape from Bazzill Basics Paper called Blush Red Stripe.

First I took 2 pieces of paper from my MME Vintage Christmas 6x6 pad and inked the edges with my Walnut Stain distress ink.  Then I stamped with my awesome Inkadinkado Christmas Postcard stamp in a hodge-podge way different parts of the image in different colors.

I then laid down some paper tape.  Added a strip of burlap ribbon.  Then I pop-dotted 3 hexagon stickers from My Mind's Eye "All is Bright" sticker page on top of the burlap strip.  Kind of a hot mess, but I think I like it.

Snowflake Tissue Tape Tag

Today's tag is for Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge:  Tissue!  I used some blue and white polka dot tissue tape as my background, after inking a white tag with Faded Jeans and Iced Spruce distress inks.

My snowflake is one had made a couple years back and had leftover in my stash.  It's from a big shot die, I believe.  It's 3 separate pieces all glue-doted together.  Super simple!

Tomorrow is the big day...the Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop!

Until then, go get your craft on!

A Kindred Spirit Kind of Christmas

Just yesterday I was going through my list of people to send handmade Christmas cards to and I came across a sweet friend who I wanted to make a special card for, specifically with my Anne of Green Gables stamp that I purchased from Kraftin' Kimmie last year.  Later that afternoon I got an email from my bestest crafting buddy, Donna, and she told me about a challenge Kraftin' Kimmie was having and didn't I have an Anne stamp from them I could use to enter the challenge?  Well, what a coincidence!

So I got to create my Anne card for my dear friend AND enter it into a challenge!  Yippee! :)

The theme for Kraftin' Kimmie's challenge is Vintage Christmas.  Only my most favorite way to do a card!  So here's what I came up with.

I used MME's Vintage Christmas (how appropriate) 6x6 paper pad.  I used a few chipboard stickers from the same collection.  P.S.:  The chipboard stickers are very glittery!  If only I had known!  Just say no to glitter, people!

You can go here to buy an Anne stamp.  It's only $8!

Tissue Tape Tag #3

Today is another tag for Lawnscaping Challenge #71:  Tags and Treat Bags.

I'm combining this challenge with Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge:  Tissue!  I'm using tissue tape on my tags!

First I inked up the base of a white tag with some Festive Berries, Evergreen Bough, and Ice Spruce distress inks.  Then I added some green snowflake tissue tape along each edge of the tag.  I then stamped part of the image from my Inkadinkado Christmas Postcard wood stamp, making sure the tree was showcased.  That's it!

One more tag post tomorrow and then I'll have my post for the Lawnscaping's Winter Blog Hop!  Can't wait!

Until then, go get your craft on!

Tissue Tape Tag #2

Today is another tag for Lawnscaping Challenge #71:  Tags and Treat Bags

I'm combining this challenge with Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge:  Tissue!  I'm using tissue tape on my tags!

First I inked up the base of a white tag with some Festive Berries and Vintage Photo distress ink.  Then I added some tissue tape along each edge from my Cavallini Vintage Christmas collection.  I then added a Santa picture from my stash of Christmas miscellaneous items and adhered it with some pennant Christmas tissue tape.  Went over it all again with my Vintage Photo distress ink.

Just a couple more tags and tissue tape this week and then on Friday I'm super excited to be part of Lawnscaping's Winter Blog Hop, so be on the look out for that!

Until then, go get your craft on!

Tissue Tape Tag #1

Hey there Crafties,

Finally getting around to getting my challenge on!  Today is a tag for Lawnscaping Challenge #71:  Tags and Treat Bags.  I totally need to get some tags made, so this was great timing!

I'm combining this challenge with Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge:  Tissue!  I'm using tissue tape on my tags!  Woo-Hoo!

Love how it turned out!  I inked up the base of a white tag with some Vintage Photo distress ink.  Then I added some red/white striped tissue tape to one edge and inked it up.  Then I stamped with my awesome new Inkadinkado Christmas Postcard wood stamp, making sure "Merry Christmas" was showcased.  Santa's face is actually part of the tissue tape from my Cavallini Vintage Christmas tissue tape (the bottom one in the picture).  And I put a couple piece of my green snowflake tissue tape to add a pop of color.  Went over it all again with my Vintage Photo distress ink and voila!

I've got a few more variations of tags and tissue tape I'll be posting over the next several days.

Until then, go get your craft on!

Best. Fudge. Ever.

I normally don't brag on my cooking/baking, because generally it's gross.  But this fudge!  Oh my!  I only make it at Christmas and it's a huge hit and anxiously awaited for each year by family.  So glad when I found the recipe online to link you all to HERE because I certainly didn't want to write it out.  I originally came by it from a Holiday Cookbook from way back when which I've since gotten rid of, but kept this one recipe from it.

It normally takes me right up until close to Christmas to make a batch, but this year I'm ahead of schedule because I wanted to get some sent to my brother and mother, which means a trip to the post office.  And since I don't want to be anywhere near a post office the closer to Christmas it gets, I got it made yesterday and shipped today (in the rain with 2 kids in tow, one being a fussy, coughy, snotty baby--ugh!).  Glad that's taken care of!

So be on the lookout for your fudge, mom and brother!  Should be there on Monday! :)

Merry Christmas!

A Few of My Favorite Things

I thought I would share of a few favorite things that have come into my life this week.

First off, *LOVE* these vintage-looking tins from Hobby Lobby.  Currently half off and so inexpensive to begin with!

They will be great to put my homemade 3-layer fudge in that I make only at Christmas and is anxiously awaited by family members all year long!  It really is quite delicious!  Like slap your grandma delicious.

Next up is this fabulous Christmas stamp I just happened to notice on a lower shelf at JoAnn's the other day.  I'm literally in love it...leaving my husband and marrying it kind of love!

And last, but not least is a little something I threw together last night.  My very own cute washi tape holder!  Good-bye ugly hanger...hello cuteness!

My bestest crafting buddy, Donna, sent me a link to one of these and I knew it was something I could handle as far as making myself and inexpensive at that.
Supplies:
Frame (half off at Hobby Lobby)
Dowel rods
Clear command hangers
I added a piece of pattern cardstock trimmed with washi tape to the back panel
And that's it!

Of course, if I would have had the patience to paint my frame and dowel rods, it would be way cuter, but I was too excited to get it put together and see my washi on it!  I love it!  I can either stand it up on the shelf with my other crafting supplies or hang it on the wall.

Thanks to my hubby for cutting the dowel rods for me.  He put some serious sweat, blood and tears into sawing off those dowel rods.  Maybe I won't leave him after all. :)

What are your favorite things?  I might need to make them my favorite things too!

Handmade Gift Exchange

As I mentioned in a previous post, I participated in Craftoholics Anonymous' Handmade Gift Exchange this year.  First time ever doing something like that.  So glad I did!  I was so happy when I came across the gift I wanted to make and to have it turn out so well...the first time!  Here's what I made:

But then today I received MY gift!  Oh my!  We exchanged a couple emails to try and get a feel for what the other person likes and added things to a wish list that gave ideas as well.  Let me tell you, she GOT ME!  Here's what she made me:

How adorable is this?!  The snowman was an actual item I had on my wish list that I thought was cute.  So she made it and attached it to this adorable Christmas countdown.  Love anything chalkboard-y right now!  It's so great that it's something the whole family can make use of and enjoy too!  It came with a holder and chalk too!  She thought of everything!  Thank you, Terra!  You're awesome!

Looking forward to participating again next year!  You should too!  If you don't want to wait until next year, it's not too late to pair up with a friend and make a handmade gift for one another!

Got get your homemade crafting on!
